@Ussi: No, the Gear 2 is running Tizen, not Android Wear, so it's not possible to use Run.GPS Wear app.
See http://www.gizmag.com/samsung-gear-s-vs-gear-live-gear-2-neo-gear-fit-galaxy-gear/33602/ for an overview of Samsung smartwatches.

Gear Live

Der Akku hält bei dauerhafter Pulsmessung ungefähr 4 Stunden.

Samsung Gear2

Can I use Run.Gps on Samsung Gear2? If yes, how can I install it on the device? I mean the software on the smartwach, non only notifications by the phone. Tanks!

another wear app

I found another one:
KeepApp Wear: App Come Back
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phonephreak.appkeep
I tested it and for me this is the perfect solution (until Google will fix it directly with Android Wear...).
:-)

dimmed mode alternative: 'sticky open rungps'

Ok a bit of solution is using this app and 'sticky opening' rungps:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dyna.logix.bookmarkbubbles

Hardware button turns screen on an off and app will reapear 'on te selected screen'. Unfortunately heartrate maesurement is switched off.

Also understood, thanks for the info.
Maybe Google will release an update in the future to improve this...

@hallesch: Wie lange hält denn der Akku bei der fortlaufenden Pulsmessung ?
admin 14.04.2015 13:12:50 UTC

@pdrunning & alf:

I've spent an hour trying to find out if dimming would be possible but to no avail :-(

You can only set a flag for the screen to stay turned on at full brightness.

It seems that there are only two classes of apps:
- Those that are quit when the screen is turned off after some time (e.g. the Calculator app)
- Those that keep the screen on at full brightness (e.g. Run.GPS or other wearable running apps)

Dimming seems to be possible only when a Watchface or notification is shown - not from within an app.

That's a pity ...
