Is there any way of finding training sessions that dissapear from the program after saving? I had about 4hrs of snowboarding saved to find it gone the next time I started up the program. I have a HTC P3600 if that helps.
OK, I upgraded my software this week to the latest revision. I've partly recovered from a broken elbow from a ride 4 weeks ago. Went for about a 35 mile ride today with my friend and THE WHOLE RIDE RECORDED!!! I'm thrilled. I looked at other riding GPS software but could not find any others with the Google Earth capability so I'm really excited that it seems to be working well now.
Good job Tom!
I'm using a Palm Treo 700 phone with then Run.GPS software. When it works it's great, but I've yet to get a whole ride recorded properly. Longest I've gotten so far is 18 miles out of about 40. I'm hoping the lates revision is more stable. The Treo 700 running Windows Mobile 5.0 is also a bit touchy so I'm not sure if it's the phone or the software.
Yep, it happened to me too. But just tested the last version and the missing gps signal was working fine ! The gps icon turned red when i put my blue tooth gps out of signal, and turned green and working when it caught the signal again. But yesterday simply turned off :(
The reason why the defaults for both the application and the data is the main memory is that on some devices (for instance Pocket Loox N5xx) the storage card is not available directly after returning from standby. It takes maybe 1/2 second or so. Not much time - but the result is that programs accessing the file system during that period will crash ...
On the P3600 this is no problem, though.
Thanks for sending the folder - we‘ll check it soon. RAR is okay.
I have sent you the subfolder zipped (or RARed- I think that is the same?)
If anyone is going to screw things up it would probably be me :) But I did name the training session, I did press Save and it even come up with a pop-up saying that the training session had been saved.
The ride was nearly 5 hours long. What size would that make the data file? I had the Run.GPS sub-folder in the main memory, but have now moved it to the Storage Card as per you instructions in FAQ, just in case. To be honest, having installed the program to the Storage card, I was a little surprised to see that the data sub-dir was defaulted to the main memory?
We already noticed some problem with the HTC P3600: some users stated it worked fine but some others had problems. To get this problem fixed, we have a beta version for testing which contains a different GPS driver. But this applies only if you use the serial port for connecting to the GPS and not the managed GPS. If you want, you can try the beta version from <http://downloads.rungps.net/RunGPSSetupPaul.exe>.
The new major release (1.3 or 2.0) will contain *incremental backup* so this won‘t happen. However, you‘re the first user who reported this type of problem. Any others?
So, in order to get your training recording back, please do the following:
1) copy your entire directory /My Documents/Run.GPS/users to your HD using ActiveSync
2) create an ZIP archive from this dir (right-mouse click >> send to >> zip folder)
3) send the archive to support@rungps.net
We‘ll see what happened to your recording and if it can be restored.
Help! I just did the biggest ride of my life and I can‘t find the data. I installed trial prog yesterday (on my HTC P3600 running Win Mob 5) and tried a few test routes (3 x 2-5 km). All went well, except I noticed that the GPS did not resume after I has temporary stopped recording and started again? But managed to save routes etc no problem. Today I did a 140 km bicycle ride. I named the ride before strating and after 99 km (during a short break) saved the the training session, pressed lap, and pressed stop. Then pressed Start again when resumed riding for next 40 km. At end of ride I noticed that (like yesterday) GPS had failed to operate again for the 2nd lap, but at least I had the 99km of data. So I pressed Save and then closed GPS trainer. Now I can;t find any trace of my data/file? Where did it go? Any ideas. Lost? Why? Very cheesed off :( Slogger
