Just another idea for those who like to compete against themselves (recorded trainings) or others (imported navigation routes): a mini diagram that shows the virtual lead to your competitor.

Another Item

- I would like to agree that RunGPS needs help when it comes to volume (I am using an Android phone, software 2.3.9) I can't hear the voice output over my music.

- I also request a customizable voice output based on sport. For example: when I bike I want to hear speed, but when I run I want to hear pace. When I change sports can RunGPS change the voice output options to match the sport I chose?

All around this is a GREAT PROGRAM!

I think your wish list pretty much covers the main features. I think it will be a complete rewrite to bring run.gps up to the level you are wishing for which is why there hasn't been a refresh of the UI since I've used it in the last 5 years.

Survey + Roadmap

Nice wishlist. And a lot of work ;-)

My proposal is that run.gps makes a survey to get an idea what is really important for most of the users. Of course I would also pay for major improvements. And as the list shows, there are many wishes.

Here are my top points:
- Enter average heartbreak after training is stopped.
- Fully customizable equipment chooser. E.g. Shoes, Bikes, ...
- Show pace, distance, altitude in one graph
- configurable sound volume, independent of global sound volume (or stop song in background temporarliy if technical possible)
- start sound output (avg. speed, distance, ...) when pushing a button (e.g. volume)
- And of course a rework of the user interface in general

Not really important for me (now), but I think meanwhile a buy criteria for some people:
- connections to networks (faceboook, google+)

Anyway, a kind of roadmap for the next 6-12 months, would be really great!!!

Wishlist

Hi all!

As a frequent user of the Run.GPS software I’ve recently been thinking about possible improvements / wishes. Some concern the software in general, some specific devices and some concern the Run.GPS portal.
These are just some ideas. Please let me know if you like them or not. Some may be harder to implement by the Run.GPS developers than others, so please remember… it’s just a wishlist. We don’t want the Run.GPS team to panic. :)

Actually, some ideas may have been posted before by others… sorry if that’s the case.

Software related ideas:

- Screen layouts: Since devices are getting bigger and bigger and resolutions are getting higher I think it would be nice to add some extra screen layouts which can hold more data or, even better, create fully customizable layouts (which would probably mean lots of programming).

- Eyecandy: Although it’s never easy to choose whether to optimize an application for speed or for eyecandy personally I think Run.GPS could do with a little more modern design. Although it’s functionallity is, in my opinion, without a doubt unbeaten in comparison to similar applications, it lacks a bit on design. With the current generations of smartphones (WP7 / android) I think it shouldn’t be a problem to give the application a graphic boost. For devices that run WM5 or WM6 this migh not be such a great idea though.

- Screen access: I would love an easier access to the different screens. Now you have to go back and forward to get from one screen to another. Especially on devices that support a “swiping finger movement” this would be a nice improvement. It would even be better to switch screens or start / pause / stop training sessions by using voicecontrol (so you don’t have to take your hands of the handlebars when riding on a bike for example) but that would probably be hard to implement and costly.

- Navigation: Navigate (online route) to moving object (friend) with update every 5 sec (or customizable). I think with the current software this can only be done using bee line navigation.

- Competition: Calculate difference in time / distance between 2 competitors that follow the same route.

- Emergency button: SOS button that makes it possible to send an email or SMS with GPS position to one or more predefined persons in case of an emergency.

- Extra map-option: auto-zoom map. Depending on the angle to follow zoom the map in or out automatically, so zoom in when taking a turn.

- Panning and zooming: Use panning and zooming for maps and diagrams using the multitouch functionality on WP7 devices or other devices which support mutitouch.

- Auto-archive: Auto-archive function for older trainings. Move trainings that already have been uploaded to another folder so it will speed up the upload process of the newer trainings. They should still be visible in the logs though.

- Customizable Live Tile notifications for WP7 devices showing speed / height / heartbeat / distance to friend / activity level etc. on a Live Tile using push notifications. Would make me very happy! :)

- For racebiking: Although I’m not cycling in a team I think for some people it would be an improvement to make a diffence (different icons) between individual trainings and group trainings so they have a better way to analyse their individual performances and their group performances.

- Weather data: I think this has been mentioned before by somebody else, but in my opinion it would be great to have an option to display (and record!) weatherdata like temperature, windspeed and wind direction.

Website related ideas:

I posted the website related ideas in the "GPS-Sport Wishlist / Ideas" forum
http://www.gps-sport.net/forums/thread/2173-0/Yet-another-wishlist...

Well, that’s it… any suggestions or comments (good or bad) are welcome… :)
Enjoy your sports and this (already great!) application!

Grtz,

LeMarquis
