Okay then - if the zero calorie burn was intentional, then that answers it.

I do however, have to point out to those who would criticize a calorie burn baseline for driving and motorcycling that not all of us regard these as 'basic transportation'. Most of my motorcycling and driving that I would track on Run.GPS software is adrenaline-producing, increased heart-rate riding/driving...a sport, if you will. It would be useless for me (or anyone else, for that matter) to use Run.GPS to track my boring daily commute to work or picking up kids from practice.

Gamsbok - think about it this way...at zero, motorcycling and driving are set to the same caloric consumption as another far different Run.GPS sport...Resting! From a relativity standpoint, that makes little sense.

FYI - the motorcycling I would track on Run.GPS is illustrated below, and although that is almost 900lb of rider+bike, I haven't met a Harley that could keep up yet :-)

Thanks,
recneps

We decided to set the calories to zero for car driving and motorcycling because there had been some critizism on that earlier. Fact is that you just can't tell what the calorie consumption is. If you ride a Harley Davidson it might be same as base consumption ...

About a week ago, I had my first chance to use the new 'motorcycling' sport to ride up to the incredibly popular destination called "Deals Gap" or "Tail of the Dragon" along Hwy 129 between TN and NC.

Both days of riding I recorded the trainings and after 360+ miles and 7hrs of riding, calories burned indicated zero. Is there not a baseline caloric burn associated with the 'motorcycling' sport? Web searches have given me a range of 110-200/hr, based on the typical factors.
