No joy uploading again today, but its now all pointing towards my data on the mobile tariff.
From my phone, I exported the route to KML from Run.GPS, browsed to gps-sport.net in pocket internet explorer and clicked the upload button. Browsed to the exported file and clicked upload.
Following a wait of about a minute or so (similar time to erroring in the Run GPS client) I get the following PIE error "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try later".
I will take this up with 3UK now as it appears they may have restricted http uploads! Grrr!
I'll keep the thread informed of their response for other users.
Hi Robert,
A1) I would say the message comes up after about 2-3 minutes. The blue progress bar gets about halfway across and stops. I presume (as a fellow software developer ;-)) that its got a connection, logged on to my account and the rest is the actual upload? If thats the case, it seems that the upload multipart MIME is the issue. I'll have to try to upload a file to a server somewhere via http to see if that causes an issue and fails.
A2) No photos etc uploaded with it, just the training.
Tried again last night on 3G which failed then immediately with WIFI which worked straight away, so it looks like network block/issue on 3g. The test to upload a file via http will be a good test in that case.
I'll try 227 tonight, or for this lunchtimes' run if you can send a link to a cab version ;-)
The web server connection will not timeout as long as long as there is an active data transfer running (data rates > 0 bps).
Questions:
- after what time will the message appear typically? timeouts should only appear after 15 min or more
- did you include pictures/videos in your upload or is it just GPS data?
Thanks Robert.
The error I see most often is:
Upload Failed: System.net.socketException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host ...
Would this indicate a timeout on the server uploaded to?
Wouldn't imagine my phone provider would suddenly block uploads to the server, but its possible I guess.
I'll keep trying today and see if I can get it to upload via the phone rather than wifi today. Maybe late in the evening will see the server less busy or am I bark up the wrong tree entirely?
Thanks again

More info
After thinking it was my memory card, and changing it to read/write to phone memory instead and reformatting the memory card, I think I can now rule it out. Still having trouble uploading although managed it through a wifi connection rather than HSPDA. It now seems to point to my data connection on 3UK. It always worked fine before and sometimes does work. All other data flows fine while RUN Gps still fails. Incidently, all other Run GPS network activities work ok. Downloading routes, maps etc. Its just training upload thats the problem.
Can anyone else on 3UK network confirm issues with uploads? Also can anyone enlighten me as to how the upload works? Is it http over port 80 or some other port? If its another port I can ask 3UK if they have started blocking it for some reason.
Thanks
FInally managed to upload training after about 24hrs of random attempts.
Failing again today with a different message: A Connection Attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time ...
Running V2.2.6 build 1157
Hi all,
Just recently (since the last release?) I seem to sometimes have an issue uploading training. The progress bar gets to about 50% and stops, a few minutes later an Upload failed message appears along the lines of an existing connection was forcably closed by the remote host ...
The data connection is fine as all other data apps work fine (PIE, email etc)
Eventually it will upload.
Anyone else experience this? Is it a portal issue or client issue?
Using Tytn II.
Thanks
