Thanks for the information. I think we must limit the information in the subject line of a calendar entry to 1 line. This is how it will be in the 2.2.9 release.

If you want you can already try an early beta: http://downloads.rungps.net/Setup_RunGPS_UV_EN_Beta229.exe

One additional feedback.....

I decided to run a simple test. I opened Notepad on my laptop, entered a simple 3-line calendar entry in my laptop's Outlook 2003 using the "Enter" button. Outlook then automatically synched with my mobile, and the 3-line entry showed up just fine - 3 lines, no issues.

I then went into my mobile, typed a simple 3-line message in mobile Word, went into mobile email (Pocket Informant) and pasted this from Word into the subject line of the new email. This too synched just fine back to my desktop Outlook.

I cannot replicate the multi-line issue between device going either way.

So I am very interested to see what characters are being sent in the feed per my comment below. PLEASE let me know how I can help troubleshoot.

Thanks

One additional question please....when I look at the calendar entry for Nov 18 on my mobile, and edit the entry, I see a strange character inserted in the Subject field, and the entry is truncated. I can't take a screen shot easily, but online in my Run.GPS account, I have the entry for that date being:

10 minute warmup
6x (1min fast, then 3 min easy);
10 minute cooldown

In PocketInformant, this shows up as:

running TRACK[]10 minute warmup[]6x (1m...90%

The "[]" is actually a graphic box on my screen.

Question for you - what character is being sent in the Outlook synch screen for the line breaks? Is is a carriage return? Line break? Tab? I think this is what is being shown as the box here.

Also, any idea if you are truncating the subject line or Pocket Informant is?

Trying to gather as much info as I can before I approach Pocket Informant to troubleshoot.

Thanks. Your assessment is correct. Any entry in the training plan that is over multiple lines (ie: Dec 16, 10-20 minute warm-up; 12x400m (90 sec. RI); 10 minute cool-down) does not seem to synch all the way to my PC.

I am running Windows Mobile 6 Pro, Windows XP, Outlook 2003 SP3, Activesync 4.5.0. One additional wrinkle, I use Pocket Informant for my calendar functions (http://www.pocketinformant.com/) and have since Windows Mobile first hit the market. It is extremely reliable, but I am really wondering if this is where the issues lie. If you could not replicate the issue on my plan on your side, this may be the deciding area to probe.

I'll contact them to ask about potential issues on multi-line calendar entries and will keep you posted, especially since WebIS has a decent marketshare out there for calendar apps.

Thanks. The training schedule you downloaded btw is based on some training research ongoing at Furman University that is helping runners meet their goals by running less - not more, with very targeted runs and cross training schedules - check them out if interested. See:

I checked it with your training plan (I can do this because I as eSymetric employee have admin access) and it worked correctly for me. I tested on Windows Mobile 6.1 and Outlook 2002 on the PC side. All training plan entries have been synced.

Did you see which entries have not been synced? Maybe those with multiple lines as description?

Does Outlook function in app really work?

I tried to use the built-in synch with Outlook feature for a training schedule. It appears to add the dates to my handheld calendar, but when Microsoft tries to synch this calendar with my Windows-based Outlook, only a small # of the actual entries show up. I cannot tell why.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Would really, really like to be able to keep all of this synchronized without having to rekey data!! Even an import / export of files as suggested below would be a great start and one that would work almost everywhere.

Training Plan View / Synch / Import / Export with other calendars

I am new to Run.GPS and am trialing it for potential inclusion in my training plans for a marathon in late March next year. I am very impressed by what I see thus far - but see a hole in the logic of the portal in dealing with training plans and am wondering if I am the only one....

I live and die by my existing calendars - Outlook for work, and a family calendar on Google that synchs work & family. This Google calendar is also where we maintain training calendars for my wife and I to coordinate our marathon training.

I would love to see:

a) the ability to import a calendar file into Run.GPS as a training plan. It could be an CSV, ICS (iCAL) format which would make this compatible with Google, Yahoo, Outlook and virtually all other calendars in the world. Even if the file requires some additional management once on Run.GPS, this import would allow for a large portion of the initial data entry work to be completed. Again, I already have a training schedule mapped out on Google. Being able to export it from them as a standards-based calendar format like iCAL, and import it into Run.GPS would save me considerable time getting started with a new plan in Run.GPS.

b) similarly, I'd love to be able to export a training plan from Run.GPS as an iCAL or CSV file. This would allow me to create a new calendar (aka layer) in Google Calendar or other calendars and see my training schedule.

c) and if the developers really want to get slick and lose any remaining hair they have - it would be great to have a synchronization path between Run.GPS training plans and Google calendars (not an easy feat - but hey perhaps a later version.....?)

I don't want the Google calendar to replace what Run.GPS is doing with managing my training plans. I do, however, want to be able to view my plans when looking at my normal calendar each day / week instead of having to jump to to different calendars to do the same.

If others would like the same, please comment here.

Thanks in advance. Again, new to this program, but so far feel it is the best I've tested.
