cheapo Ebay bike holder

I bought a cheapo bike holder from eBay. It came in two parts, the bike attachment and the pda holder.
Fired it on my bike, its seemed sturdy enough and went for a cycle. It didn't even last 30 seconds before the pda mount part flew off the bike and crashed to the ground(hahaha). I thought "nightmare" my PDA is surely done for with an impact like that, but its fine albeit slightly scratched on the case.

lucky escape i think, i was going to work on gluing the parts together and adding velcro to the pda lpus mount.
Looking at the holder though, i could do all this and the bike attachement might still snap at any time so whats the
point!

Don't be in any doubt, you need to get a robust solution - there is far too much vibration through the handbars for a flimsy mount to cope with. I think i will build my own mount, then at least i can trust it.

I use a Ram Mount for my XDA orbit 2 on my motorbike and it works well. Probably a bit bulky and heavy for use on a bicycle though.

I've been using one from Arkon to hold my Blackjack II. It has rubber pads on the sides to grip the phone tightly - no moving about in the holder for my phone yet.

Exactly that also happened to me... and almost car drove over my PDA.... that's the reason I am looking for strong and safe holder!

cheers,

I have this bike holder for my XDA Orbit:

It works perfectly fine. Only if you bump into a hole on the street it might happen that the device
jumps out of the holder (happened to me twice).

Hi Bosti,

I bought the otterbox second hand in a watersport shop. In holland where i live you can buy them online. Try contact Otterbox.com where you can buy them in your regio. The Richter stuf I bought online. http://www.gpsplaza.nl/nl/webshop/product/400003677.html You need another part as well and make this on the box.

Hi Hietberg,

Can you tell me where did you buy "Otterbox with a Richter mount for the bike"? (webshop)

Thanks,
Bosti

OK, for my loox N500 I used a Otterbox with a Richter mount for the bike. More expensive then Boxit but worked fine. I have made a little hole in de rubber for the headset wire. Now I own a HTC diamond i want to buy a boxit because then I wont need a headset.

:-)

Boxit box is too smal for my PDA phone... I wrote them and they do not have any plans to do "boxit" for PDA

:-(

Hello Bosti,
I think you beter use something like the Boxit 5 (www.boxit.net) Has a special bike mount as well. This is waterproof en you can still hear our girlfriend while running or biking.
