Here's a short guide how to import maps from Map Calibrator.
1) in Map Calibrator, I suggest modifying the slices settings (in the Options dialog): Width: 500px Height 500px Overlap: 20px (don't let the slices get too big)
2) go to your target area and load an online map (world button) or load a map from the disk
3) save map with Save Map Slices function - you'll get some JPEG files and one .gsi file
4) copy all files to your Run.GPS map_images folder on the device
5) restart Run.GPS or select Configuration >> Map Settings >> Find New Maps
Some users reported problems with map support in Run.GPS UV so we'll profoundly check this for the current beta 1.9.5. Anyway, for our test devices it does work.
A known bug in the 1.9.5 is that if you deselected Auto Select Map Image in the 1.2.8 version, this setting will also apply to the 1.9.5 and you cannot change it... This problem will be fixed in the 1.9.6. In the meantime please use the 1.2.8 to activate automatic map selection.
Map Calibrator- wie funktioniert das eigentlich ? Map Calibrator, how does it work ?
I tried to put maps in with Map Calibrator, but it didn´t work. UV- can not find the maps.
------------------------
Okay I see. In case you have Windows Mobile 5 or 6, you can try the Trainer UV beta from http://www.rungps.net/Wiki.jsp?page=TrainerUV. Version 1.9.4 supports multiple storage cards :-)
The two most common mistakes/problems when using maps:
1) the map or placemark is moved or zoomed during export (the Google Earth placemark must be exactly in the middle of the map)
2) the map file is simply too big to load on your PDA (e.g. a map file of 2000x2000px has a size of about 11MB, - too much for a common PDA with 64 MB main memory)
The map only appears when you have a valid GPS signal and you are within the map area.
Btw: the new UV version now supports importing maps from Megalith Map Calibrator. Map Calibrator is able to create several small slices from a big map. In addition, it offers online map access.
----
no there is no registry entry you have to modify. Let me explain to you what is done when the application starts:
1) first it queries the OS where the storage card is to be found (the name of that folder does not matter, it can be Storage Card or SDCard or anything else; but only one such folder is supported)
2) the application checks if <foundFolder>\My Documents\Run.GPS\ exists (the folder My Documents could also be named differently - it would be the same name as the name of the folder in main memory)
3) if nothing was found, access or create the folder in main memory
Does that explain something? Any different folder names? Maybe multiple memory cards?

Oops. What I meant was:
After moving the folder away and restarting the application, a new folder '\My Documents\Run.GPS'
with all default settings is created and used.
Moving Run.GPS to Storage Card according to DocRun.GPSFileSystemDE does not work
Hi, there,
same thing here. Moving Run.GPS folder from '\My Documents\' to '\Storage Card\My Documents\' does not work.
When restarting the application, a new directory \My Documents\ with all default settings in it. Linking the directory does not
work also.
Is there a registry setting that needs to be adjusted?
