Problem was clearly user error. Tom's link was very helpful. To close the loop for future readers of this thread: it is vital that when you load/create a Google map on your desktop, set it to the desired zoom level. Once you're happy with it, immediately save as a jpg without any adjustments or movement of the map. Then, add a placemark. Do not adjust the map in any way or move the placemark...accept the placemark where the program places it. Save the placemark. Not moving or adjusting anything during the save process is vital in order for the map to appear on your PDA.
You may want to take a look at http://www.gps-sport.net/faces/forums/index.jsp?thread=77&offset=0 where I listed the most common problems. If Run.GPS says resolution 0 dpk this would mean that the map could not be loaded (too big for main memory). Run.GPS Trainer UV has more detailed messages.
[Let me start with an apology to tech support...I sent an e-mail before I realized how to post in this forum...so this is a repeat.]
I am trying RunGPS on my PDA (Windows Mobile 5.) with an external BT GPS. The program recognizes the map under Map Images and I am able to Activate it (created in Google maps and calibrated). However, the map does not actually appear on the screen when I toggle to the Map screen or the Navigator screen. The background remains light blue; I am able to zoom in and out but the map itself never comes into view. I have RunGPS and the maps installed in main memory. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
