But: we already ordered an extremely powerful new server which is currently being installed. In about a week from now it will be the new productive server and everything will get very fast!
Although I like some of the subtle changes and reorganization to the GPS-sport site, it seems to have slowed down the already slow site to a crawl. I always thought that the usual delay was due to being a US user, but now it's quite ridiculous. Here's some numbers for a simple manual training entry process in both IE and Google Chrome (cache and cookies cleared prior to tests):
Internet Explorer...
Navigate to www.gps-sport.net home page - 31sec (fully loaded)
Click 'sign in' and wait for login page - 155sec
Enter login credentials and click 'sign in', wait for my profile page (without map) to load - 136sec
Click 'add manual' and wait for manual entry popup window - 34sec
Enter information, click 'save' and wait for profile page to refresh - 134sec
Total time for 5 clicks (excluding entry of data) - 8min, 10sec
Google Chrome:
Navigate to www.gps-sport.net home page - 18sec (fully loaded)
Click 'sign in' and wait for login page - 1sec
Enter login credentials and click 'sign in', wait for my profile page (without map) to load - 72sec
Click 'add manual' and wait for manual entry popup window - 54sec
Enter information, click 'save' and wait for profile page to refresh - 67sec
Total time for 5 clicks (excluding entry of data) - 3min, 32sec
Google Chrome is my usual browser, thankfully, but still very slow on the site. For me, a ping command to www.gps-sport.net fails and a tracert to the same hostname gets dropped as soon as it gets to the first German (DE) server.
I may have to switch over to using GPSies.com (less features but a lot faster) if the site continues to be this slow. Are there any other US users experiencing insanely slow response times on the gps-sport.net site???
