then indeed your Bluetooth dropping is specific to the combination of your phone and the HxM.
concerning the GPS issue, the problem is with the internal GPS chipset, the internal one is not very accurate, it's ok with a software like tomtom because they rely on the fact that your following a street, so knowing that you are following a road or street they can correct the inaccuracy.
me I don't use the internal GPS anymore, I have bought on ebay a cheap (30 euros) external bluetooth GPS receptor (BT-338) and it works much better. no more problem of cold start taking ages, even if it's cloudy the external GPS works great. with the internal one when it was raining or cloudy the reception was sometimes dropping. So the problem of the internal GPS is not due to the runGPS software.
as you can see I'am using two bluetooth device with rungps without problem, I even try once with a third one (a bluetooth headset for playing music while running) and it works perfect. So I believe the bluetooth problem you have is either your phone or a defect on your HxM.

HxM, Bluetooth und Genauigkeit

Der HxM fällt bei mir dann aus, wenn auch das GPS keine sinnvollen Daten liefert, so dass der eigentliche Gedanke, das GPS zu unterstützen/substituieren. leider nicht klappt. Dazu kommt eine Abweichung, die jenseits aller Toleranzen liegt. Da bei der Navigation mit tomtom das gps sicherer funktioniert, vermute ich den Fehler im Programm. Sollten die COM-Schnittstellen vielleicht gesondert gewählt werden o.ä. ?
Ich verwende das HTC 3300 und bin mit dem Gerät seit längerem sehr zufrieden.

me I have no issue with the connection and I have used it on two different phone (htc kaiser(tytnII), and htc touch 3G) ,
the pulse/ cadence/speed/distance are reported even if not accurate for speed and distance (actually given the inaccuracy is constant it's more about calibration actually to solve the issue). I have the HxM since nearly one year now.

zum wiederholgen Mal reisst Bluetooth einfach ab; kein Puls, kein Schritt - gar nichts. Das Teil ist eigentlich nutzlos.

I confirm 30% overestimation

after some more runs I confirm that the inaccuracy is nearly constant 30% overestimation on speed and distance.

the speed and distance of HxM are not very accurate

since now with the latest version, RunGps reports the speed and distance as calculated by the HxM 3d sensor, I have made some tests running and walking.
running: the speed and distance are overestimated by around 40%.
walking: the peed and distance are underestimated by around 10%.

so is it my HxM busted or I have a strange way of walking and running ?

what are other peoples experiencing with HxM speed and distance ?

note: to do my test I just don't use the GPS (switch off (not connected)), so I'am sure the measurement are solely based on the g-sensor.
