Calorie calculation doesn't make much sense for skiing (if you use lifts), because for downhill skiing it's hard to estimate the values, because the calorie consumption depends very much on your equipment. Because of that fact, calorie values from skiing are not taken into account for the "hall of fame". You could get reliable values, though, if you were to use a heart rate monitor.

For the average speed, this would make sense, yes. But it would be unprecise, too, because altitude measurement through GPS is unprecise. You would detect "descending" only some time after you started to ski down the piste.

If you want to measure how fast you ski, I recommend for now to use the "Split" function or Start/Stop.

wouldn't it make sense for skiing logs and similar ones that run.gps only uses descend metres to calculate average speed, kalories etc. . Would make much more sense for these kind of sport, because in the normal case you never drive ski while climbing up.
At the moment most of the analys is influenced by the skilift, if you want to record a few hours or a whole skiday, so the log is quite useless.
