I don't know if I can be of any help here. But for WM6, the 'managed GPS' (Intermediate Driver) should always work. Maybe you could switch back to 'managed GPS' and try playing around with the WM6 GPS settings (software COM port, hardware COM port, baud rate, ...).

Common WM6 system control GPS settings:
- software COM port does not matter for Run.GPS if you enable 'manged GPS' in Run.GPS
- hardware COM port: COM4
- baud rate: 57600
- checkbox 'automatically manage GPS' must be checked

Does that help?

Best regards

Robert

I've updated my mda compact III with the official T-mobile WM 6. After this the rungps UV software (2.07) was very slow at the startup and there was no gps found. Just like the device of Guenne. Howerver fix can be done with manual settings on com 4 and different baudrate's. I now tried installing net compact 3.5. It seems to make rungps a little faster but not as fast as in WM5. At least i can use the software again but i'm hoping someone has a solution to make it work faster. I already overclocked the device with battery status. This doesn't seems to make any difference.

Hi,
heraklis, do you use RUNGPS UV or RUNGPS?
heraklis 17.11.2007 18:20:11 UTC

I'm using XDA Orbit from O2 which runs fine with settings Windows verwaltet.
XDA Orbit was bought in October 2007 having WM6 already installed.

It is actually a MDA Compact III from T-Mobile.
It is an 'unofficial' official HTC-Update if you want to say so :-) , but everthing else but RUN-GPS works fine.
Of course I don't expect you to support users like me, but I really do not believe the cause for the malfunction is the update which is not suitable for the device. Maybe another user (I am sure many artemis-users took the official HTC Wm6 update, because there is no update available with T-Mobile at this point (if ever))

Hi Günter

hmm I really expected this to be the solution :-(

Which HTC Artemis do you have? From HTC? Or O2? Or T-Mobile?

@all: Does anyone have that problem too? Did anyone find a solution?

Best regards

Tom

Hi, Tom
and thanks. No, I am sorry, that does not solve the problem.
No, Managed GPS in the Artemis' settings is checked.
But I do not get a signal when I check 'Windows managed' in the RunGPS UV settings.
I have to uncheck it, configure COM4 and 4800 baud manually, then I get a fix immediately, but the device is slow....
Greetings

Hi Günter

it is a known problem with HTC Artemis that you cannot use the serial port GPS connection type -
because the device gets incredibly slow. So, it SHOULD work with managed GPS / Windows verwaltet. On our HTC Artemis WM6 we've got here for testing it does work as expected.

The most likely cause for your connection problems is that the manage GPS automatically / GPS automatisch verwalten is not checked. You find this in System Settings / Systemsteuerung > External GPS > Access / Zugriff. The name external GPS is very misleading as it also influences the internal GPS.

Hope that helps.

Run GPS UV not working properly on HTC Artemis WM6

Hi,
I have been using RunGPS UV for quite a while on my Artemis with no problems.
After the WM6 update I cannot work with the same GPS settings as under WM5. When I check the button 'Windows verwaltet' in the settings section the programs seems to get no signal. I have to uncheck it, the I immediately get a fix, but the device responds very, very slowly. When I check the box, the device immediately responds normally, but there are no satellites in the view. The GPS Connection settings are GPS Programmanschluss: Com4, Hardware none, baud 4800.
Oddly in Maspware GPS-Meter everything works when I do the settings AUTOMATICALLY, but I see a baudrate of 57600 in the GPS-Meter-settings....???
Thanks very much for your help, Günter
