If you drive - for example - through a tunnel and you have no gps signal there, Run.GPS will add the bee-line distance between the known points. But of course no track points are recorded while you are in the tunnel.
I am having a problem with truncated tracks where the gps signal has been lost. when it is restored the software assumes I have 'teleported' from one spot to the other and does not record the bits in between. If it even recorded a straight line from one point to the other this would be an imporvement. I am guessing that it fails to record because it needs a speed input all the time to make a recording. If this issue could be resolved it would also allow for the gps to be turned off and take snapshots every so often which would really imporve battery life.
Yes the problem is here http://www.gps-sport.net/trainings/Agosto2008-7_36742
If you compare with other trainning uploads you see the time for me is impossible with that litle route, fail the first km and the rungps is activate (the time i spend is correct).
I can confirm that the original problem I identified in the first post below is now fixed. I was particularly vunerable to this because where I live in Geneva (Switzerland) is surrounded by France, so most times you cycle, you cross international mobile phone zones and this exposed the problem with WM. You can manually set your mobile, not to automatically switch time zones: UNCHECK (Turn off) Settings/Phone/Time Zone/Automatic_change_time_zone_and_clock, but this is no longer necessary with 2.2.6 onwards.
Yesterday I reset my mobile to automatically switch time zones and succesfully did a route which had previously caused errors (http://www.gps-sport.net/trainings/Tour-du-Vuache-self-pursuit_36985).
[There is a small gap in the recording, but this is caused by a I/O problem to the storage card on my PDA when going fast over bumpy roads (see http://www.gps-sport.net/forums/thread/526-0/I-O-error-over-bumpy-roads)]
@rvanherk: the problem will persist for old recordings - but the new recordings will be okay; let me explain the original mechanism: Windows Mobile has some mechanisms to automatically switch time zones when you switch from one cell phone operator to another. When this happens, the internal time gets shifted one or more hours. This caused the problems because the internal plausibility filter will remove all parts where time is negative. This happens even if you do NOT cross an actual time zone border.
@jfam: this must be a different problem, can you please describe the problem in more detail? What do
Ok Tom... I see in training log the time is + - correct, i not sure, but in distance only 1/4 of my training is there, and in the map only the final is there???????????? why only the final???????????? and the rest...... Its funny :)
@rvanherk: this problem has been fixed in 2.2.6 - please install the latest version
@jfam: this must be a different problem, can you please describe the problem in more detail? What do you see in the training log? Is the distance 0 or doesn't the entry appear?
