I also have to agree with all stated below... The RUNGPS software is great but the website seems to be very outdated... A feature I would like to see is keeping track of personal records: Longest run, fastest run etc... And ofcourse choosing which training I'd like to share with the community and which training I would like to keep private...

Once again the phone software is more than great but too bad the website can't seem to keep up.

interaction vs. privacy

I agree with all said before but would like to point out that more interaction between members should be possible while at the same time it's necessary to take privacy aspects into consideration. When I showed some of my female sport buddies the Run.GPS software and the possibility to have a running log on the portal they told me that they don't want to let everybody know when and where they do their workout (regularly)! For them this is the obstacle why they are looking for another gps software solution than Run.GPS!

(Or is there any privacy switch on the portal that we have missed?)

I completely agree

I would like to see a better web interface as well. The phone software is great. I would like a user forum that's fun and adds interaction between members. Look at runningahead.com Everyone can communicate in a user friendly environment.

I am very new to the community, but I agree that the while Run.GPS is probably the most full featured portable software available, this website isn't quite up to par.

Some specific ideas:
- Tabbed Interface. Right now the main user page seems really crowded. Perhaps tabs would help with the speed as well.
- I would love to see charting similar to the type shown here: http://www.buddyrunner.com/yossi.pik Right now the only chart available doesn't even appear to have an option to change to imperial measurement, which is a deal breaker for me.

Again, I love the functionality of the software, but the website just lacks the 'wow' factor of some of the competition.

As many of the comments in this forum are in German, I'm unable to guage most of the users feeling about this website, but here is my 02 cents worth:

This website is looking tired and is in need of some serious updates. The software has been developed nicely, but the gps.sport site has not kept track. Officially its still in beta? There are many many items in the wishlist for the website, but few seem to have beem implemented. Personally I would like to see priority given to:

- speeding up the site. This is one of (if not THE) slowest sites I use.
- Ability for guests/visitors to add comments to profiles and individual trainings
- Much more customisation of individual pages
- RSS feeds and linkages to other systems, e.g. Facebook, weather reports
- real time tracking to include *actual* update rate (5 sec, 1 minute etc) and the drawing of routes as they progress
- a blogging and diary facility (which would also include a expanded character set on run.gps or the ability to cut and paste in/out the program as the editor is very primitive)

And many more... see the wishlist!

In conclusion, IMHO, this market (gps tracking software and applications) is starting to get crowded. Run.gps is a class bit of software which compares well aginst any competitor, but it is being let down by the lacklustre community server.

Like I said, my 02 cents worth, for what its worth :)

Thanks
