New version of PDA TileManager available

Hello,

I just released Version 1.0 of PDA TileManager. Now it has direct Run.GPS Support so you can select a Run.GPS training and directly load the track from it.

The problem with the file and directory dialogs in the settings on the samsung Omnia should be fixed too.

For Google Maps download look for the maps.xml extensions on my website (http://www.amberhome.de/pdatm_mapsource.html). The settings I provided there should currently work. Be aware that Google may block your IP address if you bulk download large amounts of tiles.

Please read the documentation on the website for detailed information.

Thx in advance.

Edited:

Kept trying with diferent zoom levels, but still, error on every tile.

Edited 2:

Just realized i cant click the select button on settings screen. Else i get an error screen and program crashes. Im runing it on my Samsung Omnia.

Yes, you can download sat map tiles from google with it.

You have to modify the maps.xml config file and add an entry for google satellite maps. Look the FAQ on my website (http://www.amberhome.de/pdatm_faq.html

(The download of sat tiles still works but google seems to have changed something so the street maps and topo maps don't work anymore. I will have a look into it the next days.)

BTW: Since a few days a new version (0.6 beta) is available. This one works much faster and has an update function to redownload old tiles.

Hi,

a new version (0.4b) of PDA TileManager (http://www.amberhome.de/pdatilemanager.html) is available. Now it can download a rectangular or circular area independent of a gpx track.

Greetings,
Markus

Hi,

I have just released a first public beta of PDA TileManager which can download map tiles along a GPX track or the tiles inside a bounding box around the gpx track. The possibility to download tiles within manually entered coordinates will be added in a later version.

The program can use the maps.xml file from Run.GPS so you can easily select, which map tiles to download.

It runs quite good on QVGA devices. It should run on VGA devices too but I haven't tested it. So feedback would be nice.

It requires .Net Compact Framework 2.0 or above.

Please have a look at http://www.amberhome.de/pdatilemanager.html

I hope it will be useful for someone.

Greetings,
Markus

hey there,

i've downloaded maps from OSM and OCM via the tool jtile downloader.
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JTileDownloader
then copy the Files in the maps folder on the storage Card from your Mobile Device.

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to download maps for a bigger area at once.
At the moment I am just moving around the maps I already have, having my HTC Touch Pro connected to pc using activesync, and downloading piece by piece. But the max map diameter is 15km, so if I want to have the maps for let's say a part of Belgium, I have to repeat this an enormous amount of times, is there any faster way?
Or is there a way to use the maps from TomTom? (since I have TTN7 installed)

TIA
